Come hear from our future leaders in supply chain.  They all had the opportunity to attend the  ISM International Conference which was sponsored by Michelle Hawkins, VP Procurement, Charter Communications.   These future leaders will be discussing what they learned at the conference and how it will help them in their future roles.  

Panelist include:

Melinda Yang

Melinda Yang is a full time student majoring in both global supply chain and management at Wayne State University. As a student, she studied abroad in Brazil for a short time where she learned about supply chain sustainability and presented a case study to students in Rio de Janeiro. She was a student Co-op for DTE energy in their purchasing department working on supplier contracts and negotiations. Melinda plans to finish her undergraduates degree and continues her education about supply chain in a Masters program. She is most interested in sustainability and hopes to become a supply chain consultant one day.

Hafsa Quershi

Qureshi is the Current vice president of the Global Supply Chain Management Association at WSU. She previously served as the marketing chair, where she has helped arrange guest speakers by reaching out to corporate representatives and monitored the club’s social media activity. This summer, she will start an R&D purchasing supplier-development buying internship at Toyota in Saline, Michigan, where she will work on projects such as direct parts and material purchasing, project management, indirect purchasing and supplier relations. In the fall, she has a co-op position in the purchasing student program at Stellantis in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Andrea Vogler    

Andrea Vogler is a full time, senior Supply Chain Management student at the Mike llitch School of Business. She has previously completed two associates degrees in both general business and supply chain at Macomb Community College before transferring to finish her bachelors degree with the hope of completing her MBA at Wayne also. Prior to setting her goal to go back to school and receive her bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, she worked in shipping and receiving for a large multinational produce company in Canada where she had lived up until 5 years ago. In this role she created inventory based on incoming shipments, coordinated international shipping and tracked spoilage and international trade. Growing up her family owned a logistics company which originally sparked her interest in the field, but now she is determined to apply her previous knowledge and her educational experience to expand her qualifications and work experience here in America.  

Andrew McCorry

Andrew McCorry is a recent graduate from Wayne State University with a Master of Science in Automotive Supply Chain Management.  His undergraduate work at Western Michigan University was in Spanish and Economics.  Andrew has held director level leadership positions within the healthcare operations field focusing on nutrition services, sustainability, vendor management, and new account startups over the last 12 years.  In addition to leading purchasing efforts for his respective departments, Andrew took on various process improvement efforts to increase operational efficiencies, maximize inventories, and reduce bottom line costs.  His focus on supplier quality through performance tracking and new technology implementation positively impacted cost savings efforts.  After deciding to pursue his passion for Supply Chain Management, Andrew left the healthcare field to become a full-time student and stay at home dad to Leo and Mina and is now eager to utilize his education, wide-ranging skill set, and diverse experience in the purchasing, supply chain, and logistics realm.
